Wow, time flies! The 7th Manchester Artists’ Book Fair is nearly upon us. The fun kicks off with an exciting morning of talks by national and internationally renowned book artists who will be talking about their collaborations/joint projects. Chaired by Sarah Bodman of UWE Bristol, and featuring Angie Butler, (Letterpress Etiquette Network), Susan Kruse, (Library of Lost Books), Michelle Rowley, (Wirral Met and Utah College exchange) and Nancy Campbell, (collaboration with Doverodde, Denmark).

Anthony Ratcliffe will kick off procedings at 10am on Friday with a talk and tour of his show of woodcuts in the lovely Special Collections Gallery.

The talks cost just ÂŁ10. (Hot Bed Members and MMU students are only ÂŁ5). Please let us know if you intend to come to the talks and you can pay on the door. Numbers are strictly limited but we will reserve places.

The Book Fair itself starts from 2pm to 7pm at The Holden Gallery, and also 11am – 5pm on Saturday 13th October. Admission is free and we are hoping for good crowds. Lots of lovely artist books and zines for sale direct from the artists, and it is always a wonder at how affordable the beautiful books are.

We are also pleased to announce that we are now inviting submissions to the 7th Manchester Artists’ Book Fair.

Dates are now confirmed for 12th & 13th October, with this year’s added bonus of the Friday as an extra day for stall-holders, plus we have spread in the Holden gallery to include a further area where zines in particular will be on show.

If you are interested in securing a stand, please get in touch with Karen Mercer or call 0161 743 3111 on Fridays when Karen will be in the office here at Hot Bed Press.

Tables cost £60.00. There will be around 50 tables and we are already starting to take bookings. There will be lots of other events going on around the book fair and we are speaking to Special Collections to organize a linked exhibition as well as liaising with The People’s History Museum and The John Rylands Library to run an event as part of The Manchester Weekender which also coincidentally runs between 12th & 14th October.
