We have just launched our latest course programme full of special courses, amazing tutors and all run in our fantastic facility. Running from 1st April through to 25th June we have tried to put something on to suit the tastes and needs of everyone. So whether you are new to printmaking or in need of a refresher and a bit of expert knowledge and inspiration this is the place for you.

Our courses are very popular, so much so that we often run extra courses to meet demand.

With courses such as Reduction Screenprint, Caustic Lino, Photo-etching, Building Books, Japanese Woodblock Printing and Adventures in Wooden Type it is a veritable feast of courses suitable for everyone.

Now that we have bought our, rather large, building we are also able to plan for improving our equipment and workshop space. Over the next few months we aim to expand the workshop and to buy new equipment and make improvements that will really start to transform Hot Bed Press.

Go to the courses section of our website for more.

But please beware that courses book up so quickly that it’s best to get in touch straight away. Don’t delay, do it today!

Our next lot of courses start in July. We already have bookings coming in and some courses are starting to look like booking up even before our leaflets and publicity machine burst into full swing.

The programme kicks off on Saturday & Sunday 4th & 5th July with Adanarama and Screenprinted Posters with Drawn To Print a special week long course hot on the heels. Guest tutor Kevin Holdaway will be running a Multi-colour Relief Printing weekend too on 11th & 12th July following on from his very popular talk here back in March.

There’s so much more on and with Lucy May Schofield flying in from Japan for some special courses and Andrew Hambleton [our latest artist-in-residence and winner of the Hot Bed Press prize at the National Open Print Exhibition in London] giving a bite-size [pardon the pun] etching day it’s bring in the new here. No course programme is the same.

Also new to Hot Bed is Printed Book Covers run by the dynamic duo of Kiran Williams and Mandy Tolley; 2 tutors for the price of 1.

Thanks to all who came along to the Artist Demonstration last night at Hot Bed Press. What a great talk it was by Alice Smith from Bracket Press. An intimate and candid chat on the publishing world full of snippets, tips, sound advice and insightful perspective.

A good crowd saw at first hand the difference of being in total artistic control, but having to do all the hard work, through to working for the big guys but forsaking a little artistic integrity and control for expediency and a wider audience.

So much to take in and so engaging. We can expect the touch paper to be already lit on a few projects for books.

Great to see the artist talks take another interesting turn. You just can’t buy this experience and knowledge anywhere else.

    Next up Viscosity Printing

Remember, you do not need to book for Masterclass Demos. Just turn up and pay on the door!
    Cost: £10.00
     / £5.00 members.

The first 3 workshops are already full, but we do still have places available on some of our forthcoming workshops.

Places are still up for grabs on Mezzotint, End Papers and The Art of Etching & we are pleased to announce a 2nd Poster Printing workshop running on Wednesday evenings from the 9th – 30th November.

If you are into tonal drawing or like the idea of working images out from a velvety black background then mezzotint is the workshop for you. A centuries old technique and beautiful way of producing images of high chiaroscuro suggesting the drama and light of Caravaggio it’s an rare opportunity to learn this inspiring technique.  For contemporary ‘mezzotinting’ at it’s highest level look at the work of Chuck Close.

Please call or email the studio as soon as possible to secure your place.
