Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May, not only sees our Wayzgoose Print Fair, but also 3 free print demonstrations:

1.00pm Have a go at screenprinting with artist Jane Elliot. She will produce her lovely screenprints in this demonstration overprinting colours to build up the image. Everyone, young and old can have a go at pulling the print and experiencing the joys of screenprinting.

2.30pm see the wonders of expressive printmaking on our lovely etching presses. Martin Kochany will be printing not one, not two but three plates on top of each other overlapping colours and creating great depth with drypoint, carborundum and monoprint techniques.

4.00pm our book artist in residence Elizabeth Willow will be showing how easy it is to print letterpress on our Adana presses. She will show how the individual letters of type invented by Guttenberg in the mid 18th Century are still used today to create words and prose. Ideal for children as well as adults everyone can go away with a printed card pulled on the press that magically inks itself and is a wonder to behold>

Everyone can come and try their hand and it’s free!

This is part of The Sights From the Other City event which we are joining forces with other studios in Salford to complement the Sounds From The Other City music event which takes place on Sunday 6th May. The Sights From The other City events include a pop up shop at Manchester Modernists, an art fair at The Kings Arms and a ceramics workshop at Chapel Street Community Arts; events take place between 3rd and 7th May. Hot bed Press is pleased to have been heavily involved inthe organisation of the event which brings together artists and opens the doors to this creative enclave on Chapel Street and Oldfield Road.
