We are still working hard behind the scenes to secure the long term future of Hot Bed Press. Our plans to purchase The Casket Works, our home since 2006, are coming together. We have commissioned surveys and full costings on buying and refurbishing the building. Our ambitions include expanding the print rooms, adding new dedicated print studios for hire and private supported work plus an education studio on the first floor, and this is just phase one!
We have been in initial talks with The Arts Council for a capital funding bid to be submitted in July/August. (There are no guarantees of course but we think we have a very good case. We are also looking at alternatives should the funding bid not be successful.) There’s lots of work to be done to write a bid, set out a new business plan and get all the legal side of plans agreed.
We will be embarking on a fundraising push to help us achieve as much match funding as possible. The more money we raise the more equipment and improvements we can make. More to come in future announcements on what all our friends and members can do.
We are all really excited about the future. We have come a long way in the last few years, but the next steps could be giant strides forward.
