Manchester Artists Book Fair (MABF) 2018
We are pleased to say that the Manchester Artists Book Fair is back.*

Date: Saturday 20th October 2018
Times: 11am – 7pm

Venue: Chapter One Books, 19 Lever Street (actually on the corner of where Dale Street crosses Lever Street), Manchester M1 1BY.

Chapter One Books is a really friendly independent bookstore and café. The atmosphere is welcoming and layout quirky. There are lots of creative, unexpected spaces to meet, talk, work and discover – check it out

Most importantly, it’s a venue that loves all things ‘booky’ – making it the perfect place for our next MABF.

The call out for book artists interested in taking a stand at the fair went out early August, (to all those on our book fair mailing list and those who had exhibited before with the fair). The interest has been great and tables are booking up really fast.

There will be more information and publicity regarding the Book Fair in coming weeks.

    * A Bit Of MABF History
In 2017 we took a break from MABF. Having worked with Design Manchester to have a pop-up show at The Old Fire Station near Piccadilly the previous year we were working close with them towards potentially running a bigger event in 2017, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible. We are pleased to say that it was only a brief hiatus.

We took over the running of MABF in 2010, (from MU and Righton Press who set it up and ran it for the first 5 years), and ran a successful and well attended event for 6 years held annually at MMU’s lovely Holden Gallery. However changes in programming commitments at MMU meant that they could not offer us the space and we had to look elsewhere, which is where in 2016 Design Manchester helped us join forces with Manchester Print Fair with the pop-up show of 20 stands alongside the print fair. This was smaller than the 43 stands we were used to putting on, but it was a really busy and vibrant event, which we had hoped to be able to repeat and develop a relationship with the Design Manchester event on an annual basis.)
