It was a hectic night here on Wednesday, with The Radical Print Shop taking over creating much mayhem and fun.

Chaotic prints ensued. The Radical Print Shop still has a presence here too with work by Lois Gilbert and whilst most people left jealously guarding their great clutches of prints, evidence of some of randomly juxtaposed images and text survive and will be up on the wall too.

Many thanks all who come along, especially to Sue Shaw, Lois Gilbert, David Armes and Elizabeth Willow who all gave their time to make this another new event that will also re-emerge at Hot Bed next year no doubt, if the comments and requests from the 20 people who came to Hot Bed last night is anything to go by.

If you would like to get involved in other Radical Print Shop events, they are running some free workshops FREE workshops at The People’s History Museum & The John Rylands Library on Saturday 13th October 2012. Read on…

As part of The Manchester Weekender Hot Bed Press will be working in conjunction with The People’s History Museum and The John Rylands Library to run drop in workshops on the idea of protest and democracy through print.

10.00am – 1.00pm at The People’s History Museum

Screenprinted posters and banners. Using pre-prepared screens a mix-and-match printing session will offer participants hands on poster printing in multi-colour; each person making up their own printed message. Everyone can come and have a go, young and old. Each participant will go away with their own full colour poster. A selection of posters and banners produced on the day will also go up on display.

2.00pm – 5.00pm at The John Rylands Library

Letterpress demonstrations and printing sessions. Through pre-set type chases there will be selections of printed pamphlets/leaflets to print and hand out. Printed on the Albion presses and on portable Adana presses provided by Hot Bed Press everyone can have a hand-on experience of printing. There will also be a book artist on hand to show different folds and ways of making pamphlets and mini-books.

These are drop in sessions. No booking necessary. Ideal for young and old, and even middle aged!
