As part of a major expansion of Hot Bed Press in October we opened 11 new studios on the top floor of The Casket Works, (as well as 4 studios on the first floor), with thanks to the generous support of Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company, who gave us £10,000 towards this development. (Salford City Council also gave us 6 months rent free period in lieu of a total upgrading of lighting and electrics.)
We already had 9 studios on the first floor. We moved 4 of these to the top floor and opened up the workshop on the first floor to better natural light and more room for members to work. We also created a new aquatint room and a new reception office from 2 studios and made available a further studio from the old office in June 2011.
You don’t have to be a printmaker to have a studio at Hot Bed Press, but we do give preference to printmakers, as it is a unique opportunity to be able to access our wonderful print facilities. Studio tenants can take advantage of a reduced monthly regular usage of £40 a month for unlimited access during open access times. (When a keyholder position is available from the limited number of keyholder members we have, they may request to be upgraded to 24 hours access to the print facilities for the same monthly fee.) Alternatively tenants can pay £2.50 an hour to use the print facilities.
