Here’s a great opportunity to get a foot in the door at The Whitworth… I’m repeating myself but it’s worth repeating as the deadline has been pushed on to next Thursday 19th of May to give you a chance to get your beautiful prints together…  Artists Ian Irvine and Denis Whiteside are putting together a portfolio of prints to be sold at The Whitworth Gallery. They are seeking around 6 artists from Hot Bed Press with between 4 and 6 prints available each. Any traditional print medium – Etching, Woodcut, Linocut, Screenprint, Monoprint will be considered.

All prints should be MOUNTED or professionally presented and wrapped in cellophane to protect against handling. Commission on sales is 25% The maximum size including mount is A2 – 594mm x 420mm Minimum size of mount is A4 – 297 x 210mm Anything in between these sizes is ok, so A3 is ideal. There should be a range of sizes to choose from.

Submissions are to come through Hot Bed Press; prints only. The selection will be made by artist Ian Irvine on 19th of May. We’d love to see a few more people submit work for this and are aware that we maybe didn’t give enough notice, so if you were thinking about it, now’s the time to act. Just bring along your selection of prints and we’ll house them snug in a little planchest ‘til next Thursday.

Congratulations to Colette Payne, Catherine Kleeli, Jeni Nuttall, Sara Stabb and Sarah Hardacre who all had work selected for the browser.

This is hopefully the start of a long running presence of printmaking at the Whitworth Gallery shop, and we wish members well in sales.

It’s also good to work with Ian and Denis from Neo Artists in Bolton, who have organised this.

    All the best
