It’s that time of year again and our 20:20 Print Exchange is open for business. We have 36 print workshops so far wanting to take part, so it’s going to be another mammoth project.
The exchange is one of the largest print exchanges in Europe. This year we are really pleased to welcome Hey Ho print Co. from Middlesborough, Cumbria Printmakers and The Print Market Project from Cardiff. We are specially pleased to welcome Islensk Grafik from Reykjavik, Iceland as a guest international workshop.
We are also attracting interest from colleges and universities to join the throng. This year The University of Salford have incorporated it into their curriculum and The North Wales School of Art & Design are also taking for the first time. [Short Printmakers who are now taking part in the exchange for the second time are a collective of staff and students from Leeds College of Art & Design.] We are still focused on print workshops and supporting everything independent print workshops do, but it’s great to see universities getting involved and supporting undergraduates in printmaking to see the wealth of printmaking facilities and world of print outside of of the universities.
Our members are already starting to produce their prints; deadline for us to receive prints in is 1st November and then the task of sorting and boxing them all up gets under way. We hear that activity is also increasing on the exchange in workshops from Galway to Edinburgh.
