About the course:

On this introductory course, suitable for beginners, you will be working with your own text. You will learn to properly handle metal type and a table-top printing press. On day one you will finish with your own business cards, headed notepaper or note-cards, and on day two you will be looking at the production of pamphlets and chapbooks*. Graham Moss runs Incline Press in Oldham and has many years of experience in typesetting.

*A chapbook is a pocket-sized booklet popular from the 16th to the 19th Centuries, revitalized in the last 20 years. Over this weekend you will be shown how to plan a pamphlet, set 6 lines of text and print, joining with others on the course to create an edition of 60 copies, folded, collated and finished. This is a great introduction to letterpress or a different approach for those with a rudimentary experience of typesetting.
