Gum Bichromate Printing
weekend Course
This course is not currently on the schedule
Tutor: John Brewer
About the course:
Popular between the 1890’s and 1920’s, gum bichromate printing is probably the most expressive and flexible of all early photographic techniques. In its most basic form watercolour pigment, gum Arabic and potassium dichromate are mixed together and coated on watercolour paper. A suitable negative is placed on top and the paper exposed to ultra-violet light. The results have a beautiful light tonal quality.
